Tangerine, Australia’s fast-growing internet and mobile data, challenger brand, announces a new partnership with Australia’s highest ranked women’s single tennis player, Maya Joint, alongside her rise to success this year.

At just 19-years of age, Maya has quickly become one of the most exciting new players in Australian tennis, having gained momentum in the last 12 months, climbing from world No.119 to career high No.32, with her sights now firmly set on the Australian Open in January 2026.

Her fast, fearless playing style and rapid rise through the world rankings reflect a new era for the sport; one defined by speed and confidence. These qualities align with Tangerine’s own brand story, delivering refreshingly simple, fast internet.

This partnership is another standout example of Tangerine backing women in sport, playing an important part in supporting and amplifying Maya’s story as she is set to become a household name during a major Grand Slam tournament at home.

Tangerine’s Head of Growth, Rick van Emmerik, said the partnership represents a natural match between two challengers known for speed and simplicity.

“When the opportunity came to partner with Maya, it felt like a natural and obvious fit,“ van Emmerik said.

“Maya represents the future of Australian tennis, fast, focused and committed to connecting with a new generation of fans. We are thrilled to announce the start of an exciting partnership that expresses what Tangerine stands for: fast, reliable, and refreshingly simple.”

“As Maya continues to push toward the world No.1 ranking, we’re proud to support her chasing her dreams.

“Backing women in sport is a genuine priority for us, and we want to play a role in giving female athletes the long-term support they deserve, not just during major moments but throughout their elite journey,” van Emmerik said.

Australia’s highest ranked women’s single tennis player and new Tangerine Ambassador, Maya Joint, said: “I’m thrilled to be partnering with Tangerine! Their focus on being fast and reliable matches my game style, and I’m grateful for their incredible support. It’s an exciting opportunity and I’m proud to team up with a Melbourne-based brand.”

Tangerine’s commitment to supporting female athletes is an important focus as its sponsorship portfolio grows. Earlier this year, Tangerine extended its partnership with Olympic swimmer Mollie O’Callaghan through to 2028 and recently announced its sponsorship of WNBL team Bendigo Spirit.

Tangerine will amplify the new partnership with Maya during a key moment in her career, supporting across social media channels and out of home placements in Melbourne during the 2026 Australian Open.

Aussies looking to keep up with Maya’s progress during the Australian Open can take advantage of Tangerine’s summer sale discount offers across its mobile and NBN plans, which are perfect for streaming every ace and rally without dropping the ball.
